Irene C. Uftring - June 30, 2004

Irene C. Uftring, 89, of 535 W. Fourth St., Minonk, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday (June 30, 2004) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk. The Rev. Craig Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk, and for one hour prior to services on Saturday at her church. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk, or The Salvation Army.

Mrs. Uftring was born Dec. 11, 1914, at Stover, Mo., a daughter of Theodore and Pauline Nolting Fischer. She married Herbert Uftring on Jan. 11, 1946, at Stover, Mo. He died April 11, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (R.J.) Whitworth, Bloomington; five sons, Gary (Kay) Uftring, East Peoria; Danny (Donna) Uftring, Washington; Ron (Char) Uftring, Washington; Rick (Linda) Uftring, Minonk; and Herb (Sandy) Uftring, Washington; two brothers, Henry (Alma) Fischer, Stover, Mo., and Paul Fischer, St.Charles, Mo.; three sisters, Renata (Walter) Ehlers, Stover, Mo.; Paula Fischer, Sedalia, Mo.; and Lorena (Vernon) Koester, Sedalia, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, Jeff Uftring, East Peoria; Lorie Uftring, Chicago; Chad (Carrie) Uftring, Germantown Hills; Kyle Uftring, Washington; Dale (Colleen) Sparks, Washington; Kim (Rocky) Simmons, Springfield, Mo.; Cory (Angie) Uftring, Washington; Samantha (Mike) Lucas, Washington; Matthew Uftring, Washington; Grant Uftring, Washington; Aaron Uftring, Minonk; Brandon Uftring, Minonk; Alex Whitworth, Bloomington; and Sarah, Anna, and Emma Uftring all of Washington; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Sparks, Katie Sparks, Ethan Uftring, Gustin Lucas, Andrew Bergman, Casey Thomas and Kayla Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one grandson.

Irene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk. She was employed by the Toluca Garment Company for several years and later at the Elegant Bridal Shop,Minonk. She and her husband enjoyed buying, restoring and selling antiques. The most important part of Irene's life was her family especially all of her grandchildren.
